Philosophy of Volunteer Engagement
Volunteers are an essential part of Animal Friends Alliance’s Vision—that all companion animals experience a healthy home where they are wanted, cared for and loved—and Mission—to provide comprehensive companion animal resources and education to the community to prevent pet homelessness and promote the human-animal bond. The empathy, generosity, and advocacy demonstrated by volunteers on behalf of the animals and people we serve creates a unique environment at Animal Friends Alliance where the opportunity for service and healing can create social change. Through volunteers’ high standards of animal care, active engagement in community outreach on behalf of our organization, and mentorship of new volunteers, Animal Friends Alliance is able to expand our reach to save more lives, help place and keep more animals in loving homes, and offer an inclusive space to perform volunteer service in Northern Colorado.

Community Outreach volunteers also help run supply drives and events. Responsibilities can include posting fliers, asking for wishlist donations, or educating community memebrs at an outreach table.
Foster Volunteers provide temporary shelter and care for animals in their homes. They also transport fosters to and from the shelter for veterinary appointments and adoptions.
