Our Mission
To provide comprehensive companion animal resources, services, and education to the community to prevent homelessness and promote the human-animal bond.
Our Vision
All companion animals experience a healthy home where they are wanted, cared for, and loved.
THE BEGINNING
Animal Friends Alliance emerged in January 2020 from the union of Fort Collins Cat Rescue & Spay/Neuter Clinic and Animal House Rescue & Grooming.
Our vision at the Alliance is that all companion animals experience a healthy home where they are wanted, cared for, and loved. With this in mind, our organization has two main focus areas:
1) To provide Community Pet Resources that help keep companion animals in loving homes and out of shelters;
2) To provide shelter and adoptions for companion animals who need a new loving home.
OUR SHELTER
Our Shelter Services provides a safe, temporary home for more than 4,250 cats and dogs each year. Our organization does not hold any municipal contracts, and because of that we operate as a limited-admission, adoption-guarantee facility. It is our goal to provide community members with healthy and safe companion animals. The animals who benefit from our shelter services enter as owner surrenders, strays, and transfers from other shelters. Through our transfer partners, we regularly assist 75 rescues and shelters on average every year in Colorado and in 10-12 other states.
All animals who enter our shelter receive comprehensive veterinary care prior to adoption including spay/neuter, vaccinations, appropriate disease testing, deworming, a microchip, and any other service they may need prior to adoption.
our community pet services
We offer multiple services to help community members keep their beloved pet home with them rather than surrender to a shelter. Our services are all low-cost or free thanks to the generous support of the many people who share our vision.
These services include:
Subsidized spay/neuter and preventative veterinary care
A pet food pantry
A community cat program (Trap-Neuter-Return)
Dog behavior services
Humane euthanasia services
