UPDATED 3.24.2020 – As we all know, news surrounding COVID-19 and the best ways to protect our community are changing every day. Due to a policy change, Animal Friends Alliance is currently allowing adoptions by appointment and will continue to do so for as long as we are allowed and feel we can continue safely.

If you are interested in adopting a dog or cat, please visit our website and apply online. You can complete our general dog or cat adoption questionnaire or you can apply directly from the bio of the animal you wish to adopt. If you have trouble completing the questionnaire, you can also call our shelter (for dogs call (970) 224-3647 ; for cats call (970) 484-8516). You may have to leave a message as our staff are limited at this time.

Update: Due to restrictions on spay/neuter, we are currently offering foster-to-adoption for unaltered animals. These animals are noted in their profile and the foster-to-adoption process will proceed similarly to a regular adoption (beginning by completing a questionnaire). Please see our adoption page for more information.

Once you have completed a questionnaire, our staff will contact you to go over your questionnaire and to set up a time to meet the animal you are interested in adopting. You will be given an appointment to come to one of our shelters (or a foster home if all parties prefer) to meet your new family member! Due to the large number of families interested in adopting, it is taking us longer than usual to process adoption questionnaires. Thank you so much for your patience!

Now is truly a great time to adopt a loving companion and you are very much saving a life―especially at this challenging time. We are so grateful for your support and thank you for allowing us to save another life!

All of our other services remain closed. We will continue to provide updates as the situation changes or more information becomes available.
